How to Dress for Your Job and Still Feel Like Yourself

A lot of us spend most of our week in clothes someone else chose. Scrubs, uniforms, shirts and ties. It can feel like there is no room for you. But there is more than you think.

Start with the layer on top

A jacket or gilet over a uniform is the easiest way to add your own style. It sits outside the rules and changes the whole look. Check your workplace policy first, especially in clinical or food settings.

Think about the commute and after work

You do not have to change your style at the door. Wear what feels like you on the way in and out. Keep a good jacket for the journey.

For different jobs

Healthcare. Wear a clean, dark zip jacket or gilet over scrubs where allowed, or on the commute. Comfortable trainers help on long shifts.

Office. A shirt and tie with a gilet or plain knit adds warmth and a bit of ease. Loosen the tie at the end of the day.

Teaching. Layers are your friend, since classrooms are often too warm or too cold. A knit or gilet gives you flexibility.

Hospitality. Comfortable, practical shoes, and a good jacket for the way home. After a long shift, you deserve to feel good.

Trades and creative work. Tough fabrics and simple lines. A cap, a hoodie and a jacket that handles weather.

Small touches that count

  • A watch or chain
  • A cap on the way home
  • Good socks
  • Clean shoes
  • A bag you like

Keep it simple

The more uniform you wear, the more your off-duty pieces matter. Choose a few things you love and wear them often.

Our idea

We think about the people who work, who serve and who give. Doctors, teachers, chefs and everyone in between. Our pieces are meant to move easily from work to life.
