"Givers Never Lack": What It Means to Us

If you spend any time around More Amoure, you will hear this phrase. Givers never lack. It is on our site, in our story and in how we run the business. Here is what we mean by it.

Where it came from

It started with bread.

My grandmother gave bread away every Saturday. To her church, to the local hospital, to anyone who needed it. She never had much, but she never lacked either. I grew up watching that, and it stayed with me longer than almost anything I was ever taught.

The faith behind it

We are a Christian-owned brand, and this idea sits in scripture. Proverbs 28:27 says that whoever gives to the poor will lack nothing. It is not a promise of riches. It is a promise that a generous life is a full one.

For us it also connects to what Jesus said about the greatest commandments in Matthew 22: love God, and love your neighbour as yourself. Giving is simply what love does when it has hands.

What it does not mean

It does not mean you should give recklessly or ignore your own needs. And it does not mean that giving is a trade, where you hand something over to get something back.

It means that when you hold your life with open hands, you tend to find there is enough.

How we live it as a brand

  • 10% of every profit goes to More Action, our social impact work
  • We have given sanitary packs to girls in Ghana, supported people on the streets in Birmingham, collected food in Telford and run Caps & Cans for Manchester Central Foodbank
  • We try to show up in person, not just send money

It is also why we tell people about what we do, not to look good, but so that the idea spreads.

Giving in small ways

You do not need a brand to give. A bag of tins to a foodbank. A coffee for someone who needs it. Time with someone who is lonely. Small things count.

MORE LUV.
