Started With Support From The King's Trust: Our Story

If you look at the bottom of our homepage, you will see a small badge that says "Started with support from The King's Trust". Here is why it is there.

Who The King's Trust is

The King's Trust is a UK charity that helps young people build confidence, learn skills and move into work or start their own business. Their enterprise programme supports people who want to turn an idea into something real.

What support looks like

Starting a business can feel lonely. You are making decisions about money, products, suppliers and customers, often for the first time. Support from an organisation like The King's Trust can include:

  • Guidance on planning and business basics
  • Access to mentors who have been through it
  • A network of other young founders
  • Credibility when you are approaching partners, suppliers and funders

Not every part of it will be a perfect fit for every person, and it is worth being clear about what you want from it. But the structure, the encouragement and the sense that someone believes in what you are doing can be the push that matters.

What it meant for More Amoure

Having backing behind us helped us take the idea seriously. It gave us reasons to keep going when sales were quiet. It also connected us with people who understand what it is like to build something from scratch.

Today we describe ourselves as a Manchester social impact clothing brand supported by The King's Trust, and we are proud to say so.

If you are thinking of applying

  • Be clear about your idea and why it matters to you
  • Come with questions
  • Be honest about where you are stuck
  • Follow up. Busy teams respond best to polite, clear and regular contact.

You can find out more about their programmes on the King's Trust website.

Where we are going next

We keep building, keep giving 10% of every profit to More Action, and keep sharing what we learn. If you are a young founder starting out, keep going. It is worth it.
