How to Choose a Tracksuit That Fits and Lasts

The best tracksuit is the one that fits you on the shoulders and waist, feels good on the skin and still looks sharp after plenty of wear. Here is what to check before you buy.

Start with the top

The shoulder seam should sit near the edge of your shoulder, and the sleeves should end around your wrist bone. Oversized is a choice, but it should look planned. Our guide on oversized vs regular fit helps.

Check the waist and rise

The trousers should sit comfortably on your waist without digging in or sliding down. You should be able to sit, bend and walk without tugging.

Look at the ankle

A tapered or cuffed ankle looks neat with trainers. A straight leg looks relaxed. Decide which you want before you shop.

Feel the fabric

Rub it between your fingers. It should feel soft but with some body. Thin fabric can cling, while fabric with a bit of weight tends to hang better. Check the product page for details.

Matching set or separates?

A matching set is the easy option and looks put together straight away. Separates give you more outfits, since you can pair a track top with jeans or a hoodie with different sweatpants.

What should you check before buying?

  • Size chart against a set you already own
  • How the waist feels sitting down
  • Whether the colour works with your trainers
  • Care instructions on the label

How do you make it last?

Wash it according to the label, avoid very hot dryers, and hang or fold it properly. For styling tips, read How to Style a Tracksuit Smart.

Which size should you pick?

Check the size chart against a set you already own, and think about how you want it to sit. If you like a roomier feel, size up. Keep sleeve and leg length in mind too, as they are harder to change than the width. Our guide on how to measure yourself works for tops and bottoms alike.

Our Full Tracksuit is £110, and the Women's Core Track Set is also £110.
